CONTACT POINT - DIRECTIVE 98/34/EC

Directive 98/34/EC lays down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical standards and regulations. The aim of the Directive is to prevent the creation of new technical barriers to trade. Member States are obliged to notify the European Commission of draft technical regulations and to observe a three month standstill period before the regulation is finally adopted.

Central Units have been set up in the Member States to administer the notification procedure. 

The Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing acts as the Central Unit for the Czech Republic.
