Czech EU Presidency - ÚNMZ

On 1 July 2022, the Czech Republic began its second-ever Presidency of the Council of the EU (CZ PRES), the first time the Czech Republic held the EU Presidency in the first half of 2009. Preparations for the CZ PRES function were launched in 2018 on the basis of Government Resolution No 451 of 10 July 2018 The role of the central coordinator for ensuring the preparation and performance of CZ PRES was assigned to the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic by the above-mentioned resolution. Up-to-date information on CZ PRES is published via the internet domain www.eu2022.czestablished by the Government Office.

The Office for Technical Standardization, Metrology and State Testing ensures the following Government Resolution No. 427 of 28 April 2003 on Institutional Assurance of the Czech Republic's Membership in the EU and Coordination of the Decision-Making Process (as amended - last amended by Government Resolution No 571/2007 of 30 May 2007 on amending certain government resolutions in connection with the Czech Republic's membership in the EU) the activities of the gestor and coordinator G7 EU Technical Harmonisation Council Working Groups (G7 WG) at national level. For this purpose, the IOMH is involved in the activities of the Sectoral Group on Technical Harmonisation and Consumer, which is a working body of the Sectoral Coordination Groups of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (RKS MIT) for EU issues in the field of technical harmonisation and consumer affairs, and to the work of the EU working-level committee as an associate member.

PS G7 is made up of several working subgroups, the composition of which varies depending on the priorities of the individual EU Council presidencies and the state of discussion of the relevant legislative proposal.

Government Resolution No 729 of 14 October 2019 to ensure the preparation of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union for 2020, was entrusted with the preparation and exercise of the Presidency of this working group. Currently, the ÚNMZ is provided by CZ PRES in two working subgroups of the G7 WGwhere the following regulations falling under the direct competence of the Authority are discussed (more detailed information concerning their discussion is available on the page dedicated to Current events in the ÚNMZ agendas):

Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products, amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and repealing Regulation (EU) No 305/2011

In the case of agendas outside the remit of the ÚNMZ, which are being discussed in the subgroups of the G7, or are expected to be discussed on behalf of CZ PRES, an agreement has been reached with the relevant gestors (MIT, MoE, MoE, MoH, MoD) and the Permanent Representation in Brussels on the provision of chair teams.

Within CZ PRES, the representative of the ÚNMZ also alternates the chairman Council Working Party on Competitiveness and Growth - Industry (WG G1) during the hearing Proposal for amending Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012 on European Standardisation (Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012 as regards decisions of the European Standardisation Organisations concerning European standards and European standardisation products), which is under the responsibility of the Office.
