Competence of the Office

The Office carries out the competence of the State in the following areas

  • technical standardisation

With the effect from 1 January 2018, all activities relating with development, publication and distribution of technical standards were transferred to the Czech Agency for Standardization(CAS).

  • metrology
  • testing
  • harmonisation of technical regulations

Responsibilities of the Office are stipulated by the Act No. 20/1993 Coll., on Safeguarding the Organisation of the State Administration in the Field of Technical Standardization, Metrology and Testing, the Act No. 22/1997 and No. 90/2016 Coll., on Technical Requirements for Products and the Act No. 505/1990 Coll., on Metrology. The responsibilities further arise from relevant government resolutions and international treaties by which the Czech Republic is bound.

 

Basic activities of the Office departments

Office Administration

In particular, it is responsible for coordinating the preparation of documents for negotiations and decisions of the President of the Office and his first Deputy, for ensuring the conditions and comprehensive support in the performance of tasks, for the organisational, technical and administrative agenda related to external relations of the Office in general, transparent administrative management of the complete file agenda of the Office and for issuing internal regulations of the Office.

Metrology Department

In particular, it is responsible for ensuring metrology within the scope provided for by Act No. 505/1990 Coll., on Metrology, as amended, and by decrees issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement this Act.

Testing Department

It is responsible in particular for ensuring state testing within the scope provided for by Act No. 22/1997 Coll., on Technical Requirements for Products and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended, and government orders issued to implement this act, Act No. 90/2016 Coll., on Conformity Assessment of Specified Products When Making Them Available on the Market, and government orders issued to implement this Act or directly applicable EU regulations, and Act No. 206/2015 Coll., on Pyrotechnic Articles and Their Handling and on Amendments of Certain Acts (Act on pyrotechnics), Government Order No. 207/2015 Coll., amending Government Order No. 178/2011 Coll., Laying Down Certain Pyrotechnic Articles, the Conditions Under Which Their Import May Take Place and a Model Application for Granting Permission, and Government Regulation No. 208/2015 Coll., on Technical Requirements for Pyrotechnic Articles and Their Placing on the Market.

International Relations Department

It is responsible in particular for ensuring the performance of the MIT's competences in the field of convergence of technical regulations of the Czech Republic with the set of EC legislation with technical content (hereinafter referred to as EC technical regulations), for ensuring inter-ministerial organisation and coordination of notifications of draft technical regulations within the framework of the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) and Directive 98/34/EC, for ensuring It is responsible mainly for account management of the Office following the applicable legislation, compliance with binding budget indicators and budget structure, IT issues, registration, management and maintenance of assets, including buildings, conducting inventories of assets and ensuring operational activities of the Office, including car operation.and sectoral Technical Harmonization Groups within the MIT RKS, and for ensuring international cooperation and general relations with the EU in the areas of competence Office. It ensures the implementation of Directive 98/34/EC, as amended.

Finance and Economy Management Department

It is mainly responsible for the Office accounting in accordance with the applicable legislation, compliance with binding budget indicators and budget composition, as well as for IT issues, record keeping, management and maintenance of assets, including buildings, conducting inventories of assets and ensuring operational It is responsible mainly for account management of the Office following the applicable legislation, compliance with binding budget indicators and budget structure, IT issues, registration, management and maintenance of assets, including buildings, conducting inventories of assets and ensuring operational activities of the Office, including car operation.
